I came here for breakfast before work with me coworker. I thought that it was a cute little food place, and despite renovations they kept it pretty clean and well presented.
Food:
I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast which came with two eggs, country potatoes and bacon. The best thing on my plate were the eggs and bacon. The French toast was cooked like a canned cinnamon roll was just dipped into flavorless eggs and put on the griddle that was my least favorite thing on my plate. Then came the potato's which had no flavor, only some barely cooked onions (I should've tasted the hash browns because at least they would be crunchy.) I drenched the eggs in Tabasco sauce because they too had no flavor. But the bacon was delicious and crispy! Who messes up bacon?
My friend ordered an "award winning" croissant breakfast sandwich to which she thought was dry and flavorless. She said it needed mayo or butter. At least something to give it depth and flavor. Lastly they are promoting that they cell Bonilla and mocha iced lattes... all it is is ice with a pour over of those sugary Starbucks drinks that come in a glass bottle. Not worth the $5.
Service:
The table was dirty. Like sticky as in there was syrup on the table and it hadn't been cleaned up. My fork had food on it as well. Both really gross but I pushed through in hopes for a better experience. Our food and drinks came quickly and our bill was easily paid. But overall not the best first impression on me as a customer, i probably would not recommend this place to my cafe loving foodies.
If I give this place a second chance, I will for sure just try the waffles and hope for a better experience there. -

Not horrible breakfasts, but definitely overpriced. One of the few places to get real biscuits and gravy for breakfast, but the omelettes are just so-so and priced like they are the best in the county. Try to use a coupon when you come here, and it becomes a little more reasonable. The service had consistently been above average.

Country Waffles is located in Clairemont (San Diego). I might have seen this restaurant when I drive this area. The restaurant is located in a business building so street signage isn't apparent. Friend has visited Country Waffles many times and decided we had to try it for breakfast after an early morning hike. He was treating so how could I say no.
We were worried there'd be a huge line that long weekend but no. Parking was easy and there was no wait for a booth. Two great signs when you're hungry.
We ordered:
GOOD OL COUNTRY BREAKFAST:
- The Good Ol Country Breakfast here at Country Waffles includes chicken fried steak, potatoes, and 3 eggs. It also comes with toast. Friend had his with country potatoes while I had hashbrowns.
I about cried (tears of joy) when I saw my eggs. THIS is exactly how I like my eggs - soft and runny (as requested). I always request it but rarely does a restaurant oblige or follow through. The chicken fried steak wasn't huge but it was fried nicely. The beef was thin with more breading that I'd like. But the breading was crunchy and went well with the meat. The gravy was delicious. It was thick and didn't taste artificial.
Friend also ordered a side bagel (extra charge). He made a country fried chicken breakfast sammie (see pic) with it. Pretty yums.
Service was great here at Country Waffles. Our coffee and water were refilled often. The restaurant is a bit dated but that didn't matter to us as the food tasted great. I would return again to try a few other dishes or to order the country fried steak again. -

Bomb comfort food. Nothing out of the ordinary but service was good and they serve you fast. Def a mom and pop shop on the works.
